V-Day D-day These were delivered before lunch time last Friday.
I wasn’t really expecting another bouquet this year. Last year’s was considered a fluke since we were in the middle of a fight and it was more of a peace offering rather than a V-day greeting.
When I was in college, I used to say --- flowers, when picked, are already dead. Why give dead things to the one you love?
That was my UP mentality talking.
I used to be not a “flowers” person. For me, flowers are nothing but expensive expressions of love that will wither and die several days after delivery. Their sole purpose is adornment. I’d rather receive a book or concert tickets… or plane tickets, for that matter! Hahaha.
I realized, though, that flowers can communicate a lot of things --- love, apology, gratitude, friendship.
V-day is also something I don’t celebrate as I’m not a V-day girl. It’s commercialism at its finest --- aside from Christmas, of course. The only diff is I believe in Christmas.
But I do appreciate the gesture of being remembered, of being reminded that I am loved, I am cared for and that someone thinks of me in that way that I’d like him to.
R., thank you for the flowers.
What makes it the most meaningful is the reality that you don’t like sending them and you have never sent any other girl flowers your entire life.
Thank you.
You know how I truly feel.
